Although Meghan Markle appreciates denim and relaxed knitwear for her off-duty days in Montecito, the Duchess of Sussex is known for her ability to serve chic, yet understated, ensembles during her more public appearances. While it has been some time since she last graced the red carpet, this week marked Meghan’s return to the spotlight, as she attended Variety’s Power of Women gala in Los Angeles last night.
After an extended hiatus from the red carpet, the Duchess made a memorable comeback with a sleek, elegant look that warranted a double take. Her outfit consisted of a beige off-the-shoulder gown by the New York Fashion Week designer Proenza Schouler, which boasts a floor-length skirt and slits up the front and sides, as well as a pair of her signature Aquazzura pumps and a black leather clutch bag. She completed her minimalist look with slicked hair in a centre parting and classic gold jewellery pieces, which included a single bangle, rings and delicate hoop earrings.
While the Duchess openly expressed her pride in the accomplishments of her and her husband Prince Harry’s production company, Archewell Productions, including the Netflix documentary detailing their life since moving to California, she playfully hinted at more to come during interviews on the red carpet. “We have so many exciting things on the slate,” she said of her current projects. “I can’t wait until we can announce them, but I’m just really proud of what we’re creating. My husband is loving it, too. It’s really fun.”
